  • Police arrested five theft suspects during the night near Rupperswil (AG).
  • A service dog, Nacho, assisted in the search.
  • Those arrested were young people from the Maghreb.

According to Aargau cantonal police, at 3 a.m., a Rupperswil woman saw two people searching her neighbor’s parked car. Several people then fled towards Hunzenschwil. The suspects climbed over the highway’s sound barrier.

However, the combined police patrols of the Lenzburg and Aarau regional police departments had anticipated this plan. Police found the two suspects directly on the highway, and a third service dog, Nacho, was found in a field. An “experienced service dog” had no trouble tracking and catching the man.

Police arrested two more men after a lengthy search on the side roads of the motorway towards Aarau.

The five people arrested are aged between 14 and 17 and are from Algeria and Tunisia. State police have launched an investigation. There are currently at least three known incidents where vehicles are being searched.
