It’s not always easy for people to leave their dogs at animal shelters. Sometimes their hearts bleed.

For example, the children of a family in Greenville, USA, did not want to let go of their four-legged friend without saying a proper goodbye. So they gave their beloved furry friends a letter they designed to remind the dogs how much they were loved in their previous homes.

One of the children wrote, “I’ll miss you,” on the piece of paper that the dog “Rhody” received as a farewell greeting. It also read, “We love you, Rudy.”

We also hope that your dog finds a home where he can experience as much love as his previous home.

For the Greenville Humane Society, which originally adopted the four-legged friend, it was heartbreaking to learn how difficult it was for the family to make the decision to give up their pet. “You were so brave and so strong,” the facility posted on Facebook. “Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions, but he knows how much you love him.”

They explain that Rhodey is “doing very well” at the animal shelter. “He went for walks a lot, and he has all the toys you brought him,” the facility added. “Yes, he misses you, but he will always love you. Never forget that, okay?”

And the animal shelter promises, “He will find someone who will love him as much as you do.” Children should wipe their tears, write the Greenville Humane Society, and look to the future with a good heart.
