An unfortunate incident occurred last Saturday morning when a jogger injured a dog and its owner with animal repellent on the Nonnweiler Reservoir hiking trail. According to police, a 24-year-old woman was walking along a hiking trail in Münsterländer around 11 a.m. when a jogger approached her.

The incident escalated when a jogger asked the woman to take his dog aside. Even though the woman had her dog on a short leash and the dog showed no interest in the jogger, the man grabbed animal spray and sprayed it directly in the dog’s eyes. Due to the closeness of the situation, the dog’s owner also sustained injuries from the spray, including sore and irritated eyes and red skin.

Police said the jogger continued running after the incident and was described as being approximately 40 years old, approximately 170 centimeters tall, and with a thin build. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing black running clothes or sportswear. Police in North Saarland have launched an investigation and are looking for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information please call 06871-90010. The incident once again raises questions about safety on public roads and appropriate interactions between joggers and pet owners.
