A woman walked her male Goldendoodle in the Lourdes Grotto area of Odenheim on Friday night. Her dog suddenly ate an unknown substance from the ground. After a very short time, the dog died from nausea and vomiting. The dog’s owner discovered and was able to secure a meat-like substance inside the dog’s mouth and in a pasture area where the dog had previously eaten.

Our commercial and environmental department has taken over the investigation into violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

Karlsruhe police now issue a clear warning to dog owners not to leave their dogs unattended while walking. If you notice that your dog is trying to eat something, you should bring him over immediately to prevent him from swallowing it. Be careful as poisonous baits may contain sharp objects. If your dog ingests food, it is best to keep an eye on it and seek immediate veterinary attention as a precautionary measure.

If you find other potentially poisonous baits in the area, please contact Karlsruhe Bad Schönborn Police Station on 07253/8026-0.
